Research interests
I am generally interested in machine learning and statistical learning theory. My work in this area has been focused on the
development and
theoretical analysis of kernel and graph based methods. Another important aspect is the detection and use of low-dimensional structure of data living in high dimensional feature
spaces - so
called manifold learning. We recently started a project about learning with manifold-valued output, which can be seen as complementary to the important field of learning
with structured output.
I am applying these learning methods to problems in bioinformatics, computer vision, computer graphics and image processing.
